P90X and Insanity Hybrid Workout

Are you looking to inject some exciting new energy into your workout? A hybrid fitness program of P90X and Insanity may just what you need to keep your workout even more interesting and intense.

P90X and Insanity mashaunty just be the best of both fitness worlds if you are looking to change up your workout. If you decide to do a P90X and Insanity hybrid, I recommend that you complete each program separately before doing the hybrid. This will help you fully understand each program and how your body progresses with P90X or Insanity. P90X and Insanity will both get you in great shape, just in different ways.

Insanity is an at-home fitness program that is cardio intensive. You will get in great shape, just using your own body as resistance but may not  build the type of muscles that you get from Tony Horton’s P90X fitness program. If you completed the P90X 90-day fitness program you probably have some noticeable muscles all over the place!

When you are ready to do the hybrid program, you can create it based on your own knowledge, or use my P90X and Insanity hybrid suggestions as a start.

This P90X Insanity Hybrid recommendation is based on P90X Classic workout program. Do it for the 90 days. My hybrid is very basic and simple to follow.

Follow your P90X Fitness Guide for the P90X Classic program. Substitute the following workouts:

  • P90X Plyometrics – use Insanity Plyometric Cardio Circuit (Phase 2: Max Interval Plyo)
  • P90 X Kenpo X – use Insanity Cardio Power & Resistance (Phase 2: Max Cardio Conditioning)
  • P90X Ab Ripper X – switch off with Insanity Cardio Abs. If you have Insanity Deluxe, use Insane Abs.
  • Switch P90X Yoga X with Insanity Cardio Recovery (every other time)

TurboFire versus Insanity

What is the difference between Turbo Fire and Insanity ? Both TurboFire and Insanity will get you super fit! Which one is for you?

The main difference between TurboFire and Insanity is that TurboFire is based on HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) and Insanity is based on MAX Interval Training, as explained below.

TurboFire with Chalene Johnson

TurboFire is a 12-week fitness program based on High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). HIIT is cardio performed at such an intense level, that your body will spend the day expending energy to recover from the workout.

With HIIT, you can reduce your training time yet burn up to 9 times more fat hours after you finish the workout. In combination with healthy eating, HIIT is one of the most effective ways to burn fat, lose weight, and retain the muscle you already have.

HIIT is a training method in which low to moderate intensity intervals are alternated with high intensity intervals. The “bursts” are only about 30 seconds followed by low intensity for 30 seconds to a minute.

The TurboFire workout also has a cast modifier, which Insanity does not. If you are unable to perform the high impact exercises, just follow the modifier to lower the impact.

TurboFire also has a Deluxe 20-week program version. With TurboFire’s High Intensity Interval Training/cardio schedule, you can do this workout indefinitely.

Turbo Fire is a perfect choice if you are an INSANITY grad that is looking for a slightly less intense fitness program that you can do for a longer period of time (60 days vs 12 or 20 weeks). You will also workout in a class setting, where Chalene the instructor is on a slightly elevated stage and the camera pans through the class so you feel like you are right there! The music is incredible too with remixes of over 20 clubs hits that you may be familiar with.

TurboFire 12-week base program or TurboFire 20-week Deluxe program is sure to ignite your metabolism and be an exhilarating experience.

Shaun T’s Insanity is an advanced cardio-based fitness program that will get you in amazing shape in 60-days! Insanity is based on “MAX Interval Training”, where your moderate-intensity exercise gets replaced with maximum-intensity exercise, and your short intervals of intensity get replaced with shorter periods of rest. With MAX Interval Training, you work harder and longer but rest less.

Insanity is divided into month 1 and 2. The first month, you do aerobic and anaerobic intervals to build your fitness base. On day one and every 15 days, you take the fit test. The fit test is no joke and counts as one of the workouts! You track your progress each time you take the Fit Test to see how far along you are with your fitness level. The exercises in Insanity are not traditional. In fact, you probably never did exercises like this before!

There is no exercise modifier in the Insanity cast! Everyone is pushing hard and you will too!

The Insanity base package includes 10 workout DVDs, elite nutrition plan, fitness guide, and calendar. You work out 6 days a week and rest on day 7.

The Insanity Deluxe package includes everything in the base package plus 3 addtional workout DVDs (for a total of 13). The Deluxe package includes an Upper Body Weighted Workout DVD where you use weights, Insane Abs, and Max Interval Sports Training. You can rotate these additional workouts into your regular Insanity routine. For example, you can replace the Cardio Abs with Insane Abs!

Insanity and TurboFire are both intense fitness program with some differences that may make one more appealing to you then the other. Whichever you choose, both will get you in great shape!

When you do an extreme home workout program like Insanity by Shaun T, it’s important that you perform the DVD workouts according to a the Insanity workout schedule. The INSANITY™ Calendar comes with the 10 or 13 DVD packages. The calendar is organized into month 1 & month 2 to track your progress, set workout goals, and keep you motivated. Each day shows you which Insanity workout to do.

Make sure you take the Fit Test too. During your 60 days, you can also keep a journal of the food you eat each day.
